Created in 1912 by Emile Chaudet, the Domaine du Grillon at Rivaz brims with history.
Emile's son, Paul Chaudet, following in his father's footsteps, carried out a winegrowing apprenticeship. Though his path led him away from the vineyards when he became a Federal Counsellor in 1954, and President of the Swiss Government in 1959 and 1962, he never forgot his first passion, a topic he always loved to defend. And despite twelve years on the Federal Council!
Paul and Madeleine's three sons and only daughter -- Jean-Paul, Marc-Henri, François and Christiane – also grew up at Rivaz imbued with the family attachment to their land and its grapevine. Jean-Paul Chaudet, Paul's eldest son, took over the Domaine in 1954. With his spouse Marianne, he developed the enterprise into a recognised and esteemed estate. Jean-Paul's children – Bernard and Véronique – were in turn impassioned with wine and vine growing up at Rivaz. Bernard worked on the estate with his father until 2005, before changing direction professionally. Hence, Jean-Paul's daughter Véronique Chaudet Briaux returned to the family abode and took over the enterprise, at her father's side, Aided by her husband, Jean-Marie Briaux, she could thus combine her two passions, gynecology and viticulture, dividing her time between medicine and assuring Domaine longevity. Their five children, along with two nephews and one niece – all students – are the promising future of our four-generation legacy.
Chaudet Wines – above all, is the story of a way of life – the enduring Love of Wine, handed down from generation to generation.
